Two Ontario schools and their students teamed up recently, to hold their seventh annual food drive event. Operated under The Niagara Association for Christian Education (NACE), John Knox Christian School in Stoney Creek and Covenant Christian School in Smithville, urged students, parents and even teachers to collect food items to give to those in need, “Our schools want to interact with our community,” said Tony Kamphuis, NACE Executive Director, “This food drive teaches children that we are part of something bigger than ourselves, it teaches children love, and compassion in a tangible way.”
All the food items collected by John Knox will be distributed by Stoney Creek Food bank, a non profit organization that works to meet the needs of the poor in the community. “Food really started piling up in the classrooms,” said Kamphuis, “The kids have been great in supporting this cause.”
